Bruno d’Abo is a Gloucestershire-based decorator specialising in carefully executed finishes for private homes across the Cotswolds and surrounding areas.
Decorating, at its best, is a craft rather than a quick coat of paint. Good results come from patience, preparation and a willingness to take the time needed to get things right. Whether working in a contemporary interior or a traditional country house, Bruno approaches each project with a craftsman’s eye for proportion, colour and finish.
Before establishing his decorating practice, Bruno spent more than two decades working in hospitality and retail, including senior roles at La Fromagerie and Daylesford Organic. Those years instilled a deep appreciation for quality, provenance and the quiet satisfaction that comes from doing things properly.
Just as importantly, working in environments where service and attention to detail are paramount developed a natural ease with clients and an understanding of the importance of working thoughtfully within people’s homes. Decorating is as much about communication, trust and consideration as it is about paint.
That same philosophy carries through to Bruno’s work today. Surfaces are prepared carefully, finishes are applied patiently, and wherever possible natural paints such as those produced by Edward Bulmer Natural Paint are used to create interiors that feel both beautiful and considered.
Working independently allows Bruno to remain closely involved in every stage of a project, ensuring that each room is finished to the standard he would expect in his own home.
Based near Stroud, Bruno works throughout Gloucestershire and the Cotswolds.
Approach to work
Every decorating project begins with careful preparation and a clear understanding of the space. Time is taken to assess surfaces properly, carry out thorough preparation, and ensure that the foundations of the work are right before any paint is applied.
Throughout the process, particular attention is given to proportion, colour balance and the overall feel of a room. Whether working in a contemporary interior or a traditional country house, the aim is always to create a finish that feels considered, balanced and lasting.
Great care is also taken to work respectfully within clients’ homes. Cleanliness, organisation and clear communication are an important part of every project, helping to ensure that the process is as smooth and unobtrusive as possible.
Where appropriate, natural and environmentally responsible paints such as those produced by Edward Bulmer Natural Paint are used, supporting both the longevity of the finish and the health of the home.
Book a Consultation
Every home and project is different, and Bruno prefers to begin with a conversation. An initial visit allows the space to be assessed properly and the most appropriate approach discussed.
